About mental health

Future-proof your career in allied health. Our suite of programs are designed for professionals who work with clients experiencing mental health issues – but have no formal postgraduate mental health qualification. You’ll build key skills and knowledge, keep pace with changes to policy and service delivery, manage the shift from acute in-patient treatment to recovery and trauma-informed care, and prepare to respond to the needs of consumers and carers.

Study that works

Choose the level of study that works for you, from a part-time graduate certificate to a two-year masters. Looking to upskill? Your completed studies in mental health can also count towards the more advanced degree.

Do it online

Too busy to come to campus? No problem. Our Graduate Certificate in Mental Health, Graduate Diploma in Mental Health, and Master of Mental Health are now offered fully online.

Add CBT to your degree

Stand out from competitors by studying a specific unit in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) at ACU. Offered at both the graduate diploma and masters level, CBT is an intervention of choice in contemporary mental health service delivery and is an effective treatment option.

Join fellow professionals

Our mental health courses are for true professionals: those who have completed a bachelor degree or higher in a health discipline, and are employed at a workplace that regularly assists people with mental health problems. These courses are specifically aimed at occupational therapists, social workers, speech therapists, physiotherapists, pharmacists, dieticians, audiologists or any other allied health professional who works with people experiencing a mental health condition as part of their role.
